Palm Tree Shadows

Date: 7/11/2009

Location: Anaeho'omalu Bay

Size: 8" x 16"

Medium: Oil on stretched canvas

Artist's Comments: A favorite painting location for Darrell Hill, Ku'uali'I Fish Ponds, Anaeho'omalu Bay is a picturesque subject. The small crescent bay reflects the light of the sky while tall palm trees and shrubbery bring contrasting shadows. I painted this same subject in 2008 during a workshop with Darrell Hill. It is interesting to see how I have progressed and what attracts my attention now. Today the shadows and lanky palm tree trunks are intriguing whereas in 2008, the color variations in the sky and clouds motivated me.
