Artist's Comments: The annual “Cream of the Crop” Kona Coffee tasting and crafts show was to take place at the Hoku amphitheater, Hualalai Resort. Each craftspersons had to had at least one of their works that depicted a coffee motif. I had not painted anything far from the shoreline much less related to coffee so, I saddled up and headed toward coffee counter; Captain Cook that is. Patrick and I headed down to Napoopoo Road with camera in-hand on the hunt for a coffee scene that was inspirational to me. We saw many coffee farms and coffee shacks but I wasn't able to locate anything exciting enough. Then we headed down Painted Church Road to drop in and visit my friends Shanti and Emily at Uluwehi Farms. They have a small family owned coffee farm which proved to be the perfect setting. It was laundry day and the colorful clothes gently lapped in the breeze.
